Hokkien Music Songwriting Competition
Hokkien language is one of the 60 major languages recognized by the United Nations and is a precious cultural heritage shared by people around the world. In order to inherit this precious culture and let it shine brightly, Hokkien Music & Culture Inc. is launching a global songwriting competition. This competition aims to promote and develop the Hokkien language and promote the Hokkien language music. The purpose of this competition is to provide a new platform for Hokkien music songwriters to showcase their talents and exchange ideas.
Hokkien Music Songwriting Competition is hosted by Hokkien Music & Culture Inc and Boston Chinese Musicians Association.
About Hokkien Music & Culture:
Hokkien Music & Culture Inc. (HMC) was established in Los Angeles, USA, in 2023. The company's business scope includes music creation, record distribution, and the promotion of music and culture. HMC values social responsibility and the importance of cultural heritage, dedicated to preserving and promoting Hokkien culture, and advocating for Hokkien literary and song creation. HMC will regularly organize Hokkien song writing competitions, publish and promote Hokkien song and literary works, hold Hokkien music concerts, host Hokkien culture seminars and cultivate talents in Hokkien literary and music creation.
About Boston Chinese Musicians Association:
Boston Chinese Musicians Association (BCMA) is a non-profit organization promoting Chinese instrumental and vocal music in the US. In the past decade, relying on diligence, perseverance, and bold innovation, BCMA have now become one of the most renowned music and cultural brands in the Boston area. BCMA has successfully organized numerous successful concerts over the past ten years, including the magnificent "Dream of the Red Chamber Concert", "Liu Sanjie Concert", and "A'ShiMa Concert" as part of the grand Chinese music series. It has showcased the magnificent beauty of Chinese music to overseas audiences, receiving unanimous recognition and praise from the audience.
About the Producer:
Kitty Huang is a dedicated advocate for the preservation of Hokkien language and culture. She is the founder of Hokkien Music & Culture, and the head of the Youth Composers Group at the Boston Chinese Musicians Association. As a young musician, Kitty is also a core member of the committee for the 2024 Boston Hokkien Music Concert. Currently a senior at the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music, Kitty serves as the president of Eastern Chamber, the university's only Chinese music ensemble. She also has extensive experience in composition, music production, arrangement and mixing). Since the 6th grade, Kitty has independently and collaboratively created and produced hundreds of musical works, earning the Best Honor Award in the Massachusetts State Composition Competition in the 10th grade.
Rules:
The entry songs must be created in the Hokkien language.
The entries must be original and unpublished songs.
Options for songs themes: Hokkien culture, world peace, love, environmental protection, and life inspiration, etc…

Pay the submission fee ($10) for each song you wish to enter.
Submit your songs and lyrics through the submission form on our website.
